Do you have any advice on how to effectively prepare a monologue where it is just you in the scene given the truth that practicing with other people is so important? Would you recommend just getting a small audience around you to do it in front of? Kind regards

I also have a question regarding the same subject. I didn’t upload anything yet to my YouTube channel, but one of the things I’m considering to create is showing the prosses of working on a monologue. From the first-ever, I’m doing, while I also just about to start acting school and see myself, and for the viewers, the prosses between starting to becoming better with each monologue. Would it be a bad idea to show it? Could it ruin my future as an actress?

Kind Regards,

Avital

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your great question. I think with this point it is all about how you do it. Posting a high quality showreel or short film is great, but if you are posting home recorded monologues on youtube it can come across very amateur. Doing it on a private setting is great, so that you have a record of your work and you can send it to relevant people.

If you are more interested in presenting absolutely pursue youtube.

That being said, showing your work is important, and these are not strict rules, just a few ideas.

Cheers
Andrew

My only question that needs clarification: why not show off monologues and scenes on Youtube? I had opened a Youtube channel specifically for that purpose. Can you please elaborate as to why that’s not a good idea? I was told by casting directors that it was a good way to market yourself as an actor. I would appreciate your input. Thank you.
