Los Angeles is the biggest filmmaking hub in the entire world – it’s always busy in LA, and if you’re a serious actor, you’ll need to be aware of all the major players in your local industry. Here’s a list of some of the best Casting Directors in LA.

What does a Casting Director do?

A Casting Director’s job is to connect actors, with projects. They create briefs from projects and try to find the best-suited actor for the role. This could be anything from the lead role in a Marvel feature film, to a bit-player in a long-running soap television series. Safe to say, Casting directors are important people – so it’s important you always put your best foot forward at every audition!

It would be remiss of us to not begin this list with Carmen Cuba. Carmen is arguably the hottest casting director in LA at the moment. Here’s what she’s been working on: Stranger Things, The Matrix 4 (!!!), Sweet Tooth, The Laundromat, I Am The Night, Vida and The Girlfriend Experience, Narcos, Sense8 – I mean, I really just could go on forever… Definitely remember this name!

David Rappaport

Another name you want to remember, as David Rappaport is casting many big projects that can make an actor’s career. We’re talking Batwoman, Supergirl, Katy Keene, Riverdale, The Flash, Arrow and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to name a few…

Bialy/Thomas Associates

Linda Lowy Casting

Most notable projects include: How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy, Preacher and Friday Night Lights. Linda is currently the EVP of Casting for WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, TNT, TBS and truTV.

Jennifer Euston Casting

Jennifer is most known for her work casting Orange Is the New Black, GLOW, Girls and Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Jennifer is a multi-Emmy award winner, dedicated to equal representation on screen, reflecting what she sees on the streets of New York.

Allison Jones

A true veteran in the comedy scene, Allison is responsible for casting projects such as: Arrested Development, Veep, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Other Guys, Yogi Bear, I Love You, Man, Step Brothers, Semi-Pro, Superbad, Knocked Up, Booksmart, Bombshell and The 40–Year–Old Virgin. Betty Mae Casting

Founded by Mary Vernieu, the team at Betty Mae are hip, young and experienced. Also part of the team is Lindsay Graham Ahanonu, Michelle Wade Byrd, Raylin Sabo and Bret Howe. Combined, they have cast series and films such as Anne, Dirk Gently’s, 12 Monkeys as well as many a commercial and short film.

Marci Liroff
